The Exhibition aims at bringing the visitors behind the scene, to peek into this incredible world.
This year’s F1 Exhibition will be exploring 3 areas involved in the motorsport:

1. The Science & Engineering around an F1 Car,
2. The driver behind the wheel, and
3. The Singapore Grand Prix captured behind a camera lens.

The Science & Engineering, or ‘hardware’ aspects, will revolve around the display of an authentic BMW Sauber F1 Car. Visitors will have the chance to explore the various elements that make up the car (which is made up of nearly 80,000 components) and appreciate the high level of expertise involved in building such a car.

The exhibition this year will mostly focus on the man behind the wheel of the F1 car that shoots around the track at top speeds of nearly 300kph. The exhibits will give the visitors an idea of the skills and vigorous trainings that an F1 driver has to endure to remain at the highest level of the competition. The visitors’ reflex, concentration level, stamina, muscle strength and body flexibility will be put to test for them to appreciate the level of hard work that every F1 driver puts into his training.

Lastly, a series of photographs on the inaugural Singapore Grand Prix by Darren Heath, who is an official F1 photographer, will be put on display within the exhibition. Visitors will be able to appreciate the artistic eye and skills that are required to freeze and capture the fast pace actions that go on around an F1 track.

The Science of F1 exhibition will be on display from 1 September 2009 until 1 November 2009 at Science Centre Singapore. Tickets are priced at $6 for adults and $3 for children between the ages of 3 and 12 years. The Science of F1 exhibition is part of the general admission fee to the Science Centre.

SHELL FUEL EFFICIENCY - Every Drop Counts

Shell today unveiled its year-long drive to help Singapore motorists Get the Most out of Every Drop of fuel. This is an initiative that will cover all its retail activities and promotions for 2009, and comes on the back of Shell’s latest findings from a global market research1 on what drivers are thinking, feeling and doing about fuel efficiency.

A market research study titled ‘An investigation into what drivers in 6 countries are thinking, feeling and doing about fuel efficiency’ carried out by international research firm, StrategyOne, the research division of Edelman, communications consultancy for Shell Retail, based on 301 interviews conducted among Singapore drivers in January 2009 (other participating countries are the Netherlands, Germany, Hong Kong, Malaysia and the Philippines).

The research, which drew indicative comparisons with a 2007 investigation into drivers’ attitudes and behaviour towards fuel efficiency, revealed that motorists in Singapore are now more willing to modify their driving habits to save fuel in view of the current economic climate.
According to the 2009 findings, thrice as many Singapore drivers are now thinking about fuel economy, compared to two years ago, with a dramatic increase in the level of consciousness about fuel efficiency rising from 24% in 2007 to 74% in 2009. In addition, the number of people in Singapore who have ever checked their fuel efficiency has risen from 59% in 2007 to 77% in 2009.

Recognising Singapore motorists’ concerns and demand for greater savings amidst the current economic climate, Shell is responding with a year-long focus to educate and help customers Get The Most Out of Every Drop. The programme will consist of three elements. Firstly, with a focus on fuel economy, Shell aims to help customers save 10% or more fuel* while driving, through the use of Shell fuels (with its Fuel Economy formula) together with Shell FuelSave tips. This will be reinforced with a line-up of Fuel Economy initiatives throughout the year. Secondly, Shell aims to enable drivers looking for power and performance to get more out of every drop of V-Power, which is designed to improve engine performance, giving more power and acceleration. Lastly, Shell aims to pass on the benefits of its alliances and collaborations (e.g. with 7-Eleven and UOB) to customers, helping them get more savings with Shell every day.
